Setting: this scene takes place before the first chapter of my Word Soap. It is a sequel to my Bingo Stories: 1.Jealous guy   –  2. Beautifully rude  –  3. How do you like me now?

Okay. Apart from the fact that this day somehow just didn’t know how to end, it was a pretty good day all together. Slowly returning from a nap, he was very aware of the body on his left, the arm loosely over his stomach, one leg entwined with his.

I could get used to this.

Reid silently waited for some sort of anxiety to hit him after that thought, but nothing happened. He still felt relaxed. Go figure. After moving his head slightly to the left, he could watch Luke asleep, his cheek on Reid’s shoulder. The doctor just absorbed that sight. He had watched Luke sleep before. After Noah’s surgery he had found the blond sleeping in a chair and taking naps with his head on Noah’s hospital bed.

Reid liked this position better. Much better. He finally had his arm around this young man. He finally felt Luke’s body pressed against his. And, even if he did say so himself, he had never seen Luke more satisfied than right now. A small smile on those beautiful lips proved his point.

Reid grinned while the memories of earlier that evening rushed in. That had been quite an appetizer. He couldn’t wait to bring Luke home. Reid frowned. Home.

Katie’s place felt more like a home to him than any place he could remember. But he realized something else. This couch felt like home too. He felt completely at ease. Accepted. Loved.

He felt a strange sensation in his chest. Not in an oh-my-god-I-think-I’m-having-a-heart-attack-kind-of-way, but more in a did-I-just-really-use-the-L-word-kind-of-way. It was true, though. He knew he was loved. Not just because it slipped from Luke’s mouth, this afternoon. Not just because Luke had whispered ‘I love you’ after their very satisfying sexual excursion. He knew because he’d felt it in the way Luke touched him. In the way Luke looked at him. In the way Luke held him right now.

Yep. Dr. Reid Oliver was loved. And it didn’t stop there. Dr. Reid Oliver loved. Oh yes, he did. He hadn’t put it into words yet, but the feelings were there.

His thoughts brought him back to that one word. That one important word. Home. So all those sappy cards and song lyrics were right after all. Home had nothing to do with a building or location. It was about people. About love. About feeling completely at ease with somebody else.

For some reason he had to come to Oakhell to experience it. He’d never felt at home. Anywhere. Not even when his parents were still alive. There had not been room for him. Not for who he really was. Only the adapted version was welcome. The son they expected him to be.

Home. Where would they go tonight? Katie’s place? He knew where they were heading. Luke had made it very clear. It was the reason he was still here, on his couch. This day would end with the two of them together. Finally. Together. Maybe they could go to the Lakeview. He’d take the germs for granted.

Somehow it felt wrong. He wanted to take Luke home.

Building a home with Luke.

Now that did startle him. Where did that thought come from? The moving hand on his stomach made answering that question impossible. His whole body started to react to the touch immediately. He could see Luke grin. He obviously enjoyed having a hold over Reid.

“Always ready, huh Doc?” Luke’s voice was low, husky and teasing.

“Yep,” Reid pulled up Luke’s chin and collected a kiss.

“I don’t want you to use up all your… ammunition…”

Reid growled. “Don’t you worry about my stamina…” he moved his body back and forth over Luke’s, causing an exploding heat. “Whenever this day finally ends, I’ll be more than ready to…” Their kiss deepened.

“Hmmm,” Luke smacked his lips when they came up for air, “You remind me of hot cocoa.”

What?

“I didn’t have any…”

“I didn’t say you taste like it. You remind me of it.”

Reid leaned on his elbow, softly pushing some blond locks out of Luke’s face. “Tell me.”

“It’s stupid,” Luke looked shy all of a sudden.

“Tell me anyway,” Reid grinned.

“Hot cocoa makes me feel secure. It´s a homy feeling. Warm sweetness. When I’m stressed, it’s hot cocoa that calms me down. And you make me feel like that. Right now.”

Reid didn’t know what to say. So Luke felt at home with him too. It made him smile. A big one.

“That’s not stupid,” he kissed Luke’s forehead. “Extremely sappy, but not stupid.”

“That’s good,” Luke grinned back.

“Let’s heat up that cocoa some more,” Reid whispered, leaning in.

“Dr. Oliver? Are you in here?”

They both moaned at the same time. Reid’s “Yes” was filled with the frustration he felt.

“It’s Marve Ellsworth, doctor…you left specific orders to…”

“I know. I’m coming.”

Reid turned to Luke with a telling grin. “But not the way I was hoping. This whole day is starting to feel like Groundhog Day.”

He gave the blond a quick kiss, pulled his clothes back into place and unlocked the door.

“Try to get some more sleep.”
